Helpful Pregnancy Tips
Some tips provided by friends on our Pregoli Facebook Page
Before you take Paid Parental Leave use all your annual leave - if you go back to work after 1 year the leave will be worth a % of the past year's earnings (eg: not much !!) Roanne Hautapu This is more of a new mum tip when you go out shopping - and in general - rather than carrying around a massive nappy bag everywhere, keep a back up of everything in your car (spare change of clothes, nappies etc) and just take what you really need - max 3 nappies, small pack of wipes and I had a few cloth nappies and used them for burping/cleanup and if you really get stuck in the mall there are always chemists. Also, if you cant find a place to change your baby, cause some baby changes are just plain gross, use the boot of your car- its a great esp for that last minute baby change for the trip home where bubby may have a nice big sleep!! Annabelle Rose Something I read somewhere recently, especially for expectant mums or busy tired mums.... "Don't stand if you can sit down, and don't sit down if you can lie down" Makes such a difference when it comes to fatigue! I adopted this little rule and even just 20 minutes of laying on the couch instead of sitting made a HUGE difference! Christall Lowe Try to remember that every single moment of your pregnancy is a blessing and you are lucky to be carrying a precious baby ... yes even when you are sick! Fiona Chard- Dixon Enjoy your belly and dont wish it away! It will be gone before you know it!! use creams, even though it probably wont prevent stretch marks, it feels nice! Get lots of rest. don't over do it! Take lots of photos! You may feel like a whale but you will regret not being able to look back at that time! Belinda Griffiths Yup - I'm with you on the photos. I so wish I'd taken some with my older children but all I could see was how 'fat' I'd got... Also if you're having problems with bad m/s or other problems, try not to look at the 40 week goal because that seems endless. Focus on getting through each day and celebrate it when you do. It DOES get better ☺ Debbe Parkes Icepacks for swollen feet and ankles, sleeping with a pillow between ur legs or under ur bump i do both lol, morning sickness nothing really helped me but they say ginger is good for it so keeping ginger snap bikkies with u to eat when feeling sick, a glass of ginger beer first thing in the morning and eat smaller meals more often rather than 3 larger meals. Amie Thompson Paint your toenails while you can! And when you can't book in for a pedicure or get someone else to do it... having a pedicure with a foot and leg massage at 37 weeks was bliss! Kyra Van de Wetering Mine would be the sea legs wrist bands that you can buy at any pharmacy. They work via pressure points - no chemicals - and were a great assistant to reducing the intensity of morning sickness. Other would be accupuncture anytime you need to de-stress and de-ache. Magic. Sarah Collingwood Great tips! I'd second the pedicure.. and shave your legs while you can too! I had Pre Eclampsia and BP issues so found carrying wine gums in my bag were great when I felt faint. In my first pregnancy, I fainted at the checkout of countdown! Do you have some pregnancy tips you'd like to add to this? Email info@pregoli.co.nz |
