One of the first things you'll do after seeing a positive result on your pregnancy test, is choosing a Midwife. There will be plenty of questions you'll want to ask as you ring around, here's some to start you off. When you have narrowed it down to 2-3 you may choose to meet with the midwives to assist with your decision.

How many births did she attend while under supervision?

How many children does she have and where were her births attended and by whom?

How many mothers has she delivered?

Does she work alone? with apprentices? other midwives?

When does she go on vacation?

Does she have a back-up if something happens during her absence?

Ask to be given mothers names and phone numbers as references.
